The Michigan Athletic Club values your privacy and confidentiality. This Michigan Athletic Club Website Privacy Policy (referred to as “this Privacy Policy” or “this Policy”) describes how the Michigan Athletic Club uses personal information that you provide through this Website and mobile app and the security measures the Michigan Athletic Club takes to protect the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information you submit through this Website and mobile app. By submitting any information and using the Website or any Related Service, you are subject to this Policy.

2. Information Collected: The app collects location data only after the user has granted permission. This includes background location access to support a core feature that detects when a user is near a facility location and enables a seamless check-in experience by prompting access to their access card barcode. Location data is processed on a device to trigger relevant notifications and is not stored by the app, nor is it stored on our servers or shared with any third parties. Users can manage or disable location permissions at any time through their device settings. Data is also collected for fitness classes or event participation to track participant attendance and ensure space requirements. Similar to other websites, the Michigan Athletic Club Website does collect items including, but not limited to, browser type, referring site, IP addresses, and time and date of access. The Website also uses cookies (a small text file that can be stored on an individual’s browser) and other similar devises. Cookies allow you to easily move through secured pages once you have logged on.
3. Data Retention: Member data is only retained at the discretion of the Michigan Athletic Club. Data is not removed unless requested by the Michigan Athletic Club. Users may request data be deleted by directly contacting the Michigan Athletic Club.
4. Use of Information Collected. Once we receive your transmission of personal information, the Michigan Athletic Club treats the information as confidential. By submitting information through the Website or any Related Services application or webpage, you authorize the Michigan Athletic Club, in accordance with all laws and regulations, to disclose the information as the Michigan Athletic Club desires. Your information may also be used to address any inappropriate use of the Website.
5. Third Party Access to Information Collected. Michigan Athletic Club does share information from the Website and Related Services with third parties. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing you with the services of that campaign. This is done as a part of Michigan Athletic Club’s routine business process for maintaining the Website and providing for requested services. 6. Security Measures. Our vendor, Daxko, encrypts all personal information submitted to the Michigan Athletic Club using encryption technology that is the industry standard and a means to protect information that passes over the web to Daxko’s servers in their AWS cloud environment. There are necessary firewalls in place between the Michigan Athletic Club and the vendor’s AWS cloud point of entry. Our vendor has set up a separate database dedicated to the Michigan Athletic Club to store and protect data. While the Michigan Athletic Club is committed to enhancing security through use of encryption technology, at this time no data transmission over the Internet can be made completely secure. Michigan Athletic Club cannot ensure that encryption technologies are undecipherable or that servers on or off Michigan Athletic Club’s premises are impenetrable. Michigan Athletic Club will not be liable for disclosures of your personal information as a result of interrupted transmission or unauthorized acts of a third party. Updated Internet browser technology, such as Netscape Navigator 4.0 (or later) or Microsoft Explorer 5.0 (or later), is required to activate the encryption technology used by Michigan Athletic Club.
7. Data Exchange with Restaurant. API middleware will be in place to transmit data between the Michigan Athletic Club restaurant’s point of sale system, Micros, and Club Automation in order to allow members the option to charge restaurant purchases to their Michigan Athletic Club membership accounts. The data exchange includes name, phone number and the charge amount. The API will be deployed and maintained by a third party, Ready Set Go, as an instance in their Heroku cloud.

The Website has other security measures in place to reasonably protect the information under Michigan Athletic Club’s control via the Website. Such controls include but are not limited to: (i) firewalls to prevent unauthorized access and control traffic between the internet and internal networks; (ii) system monitoring; and (iii) digital certificate authentication to ensure secure transactions.

The Website, by its nature, cannot be completely protected against attempts of unauthorized acts of third parties. Moreover, Michigan Athletic Club does not control the devises you use to access the Website and/or choose to send confidential information with and any email that you send unencrypted is at your own risk.
